Feasibility Study Moving Forward

After two years of research, as well as over 50 presentations to both large and small groups, this past summer we released our draft Feasibility Study for a 45-day public comment period. Our vast cultural and historical stories, and the living traditions on central Montana’s landscape are meticulously described in our document.
Now onto the next step in the process - submitting the Feasibility Study for formal review. The National Park Service will determine whether our research and documentation satisfy the ten criteria for worthiness as a National Heritage Area and whether Big Sky Country NHA has the capacity to coordinate upcoming projects and activities.
We thank those who made time to review the report last summer and suggested edits to improve the Feasibility Study. Your comments are being incorporated into a draft final Feasibility Study which we plan to submit to the National Park Service by mid-winter 2021. Watch for an announcement on this page to view the final draft document in the future in coming weeks.
Meanwhile, our Projects Committee is diligently working with individuals and organizations who have requested our technical or planning assistance on several project ideas. More to come, as Big Sky Country NHA, Inc. brings resources and expertise to help these projects succeed. Finally, a quick reminder that Big Sky Country NHA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization whose work is accomplished by volunteers and donations. If you support our efforts to educate, interpret, and preserve our heritage and stimulate economic development in our rural communities, please consider a donation to “Big Sky Country NHA, Inc.” at PO Box 1323, Great Falls, MT 59403. And thank you.
